The work started at 0800 with the temps in the mid 60's. 15 people (9 dads and 6 kids) got to work and proved how the Dads show up to "DO THE WORK NEEDED"... At the end of the day, 14 truckloads (~10,000 lbs) of sod (grass and dirt) were removed from the track area to bring it back to life. The white stone boarders, level running area, and weeds were removed. 85% of the work is completed.
All that is left is to finish the removal of pesky roots left to die in the sun, final grading, and then cleaning of the white boarders (inside and outside of the track).
When the students return Monday, Oct 12th for school; they will see the track and love it.
Right in time for the homecoming game with a newly stripped football field too.
